Your opening Alliances should ideally be one of Brute, Scrappy, or Hunter. This is just speaking in terms of average results I've witnessed both from myself and from opponents on the way up ranks. Any build can hard low roll and lose, too. A week from now this might not be true if they mix everything up, but frankly, this has held true for the past several months and basically carried me from Smuggler to Big Boss by doing it, so I don't think it will change much before Season 1 hits in a couple weeks.Īlso keep in mind that everything below does not matter if you get lucky. There's the general advice - the rest of this will be specific to the current meta. Not worrying about interest means you can dig as deep as you need to find a unit. Automating levels means you can plan exactly when new units are entering your team without planning XP investment gold. Knockout is a game about "builds" in a way that standard isn't. You do that by choosing a strong starting alliance, and then knowing almost your entire build out of the gate. First place, even in standard Underlords, is decided more by that final bit of extra luck among the top 3 players. Your goal should be top 3 - good rank gains. Your goal should never be to get first, because that isn't always decided by you. Not just because you start with (effectively) 5 random units and everything tiers up faster, but because 3-stars are so prevalent that the power imbalance of them becomes evident faster. Knockout is a blast, but you have to accept that it takes the RNG of normal Underlords and magnifies it a great deal. I'm BigBoss in knockout (currently 3, but bounce between 1 and 4 whenever the streaks hit). I'm sure higher level players would have a lot to disagree with. I'm not a Lord, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but here it is anyway. This make it so that a player with a Tombstone on his board has to put it in his frontline for it to be fully effective, making it much more vulnerable to being destroyed before its powerful abilities can kick in.I started this as a response to this post, but I was bored at work and it got out of hand. Tombstone can too often swing the tides for a player in the lategame, especially if the board is filled with three-star heroes or those that have lots of summons.īecause of that, the range of Tombstone’s area of effect has now been nerfed from two cells around it to just one. The other big change in the update is a nerf to the powerful Tombstone contraption, which summons a zombie equivalent to the level of an allied or enemy hero that dies within its area-of-effect. When she first attacks after teleporting, Meld fires a projectile that does damage on impact and decreases the target’s armor by for 5 seconds, making it easier for Templar Assassin to burst down enemy heroes. Templar Assassin has also been buffed, and can now use Meld, alongside her existing Dota 2 ability, Refraction. When used on enemy targets, it still deals damage over time, but the total amount of damage has also been buffed, from to. This results in it instantly healing for and over the remaining duration. Shadow Word now heals allied targets for 75% of its total heal instantly, with the remaining 25% spread over the duration of the buff. The namesake hero of the Warlock alliance is now more viable thanks to a huge buff to his Shadow Word ability, which now gives an instant burst heal to allies instead of its previously slow, progressive healing. The latest update to Dota Underlords comes with buffs to Warlock and Templar Assassin, while nerfing the powerful Tombstone contraption.

If you are playing an online or computerized version of the game, often the game will automatically end as having been “won” once all the cards on the tableau only have cards lower than their numerical value below them in a column. By the end of the game, all the foundation piles will end with Kings. Many online or computer versions of the game may show you the cards being moved into an empty column as a step before the destination column, but it will do this for you, so that as a player you are simply choosing the destination of the cards.Īs you move the cards around the tableau, the goal is to free cards in order to place them into the foundation piles sequentially by their suit. However, players usually move the entire number of allowed cards in a sequence in one move. Technically, this is because you are only really allowed to move the number of cells plus one cards but use the empty column as a “layover”. If you have two cells open and one column open, you can move six cards (two plus one, together times two). If there is one cell and one column open, you can move four cards (one cell plus one, together times two). If there is one cell empty and no columns, you can move two cards (one cell plus one). If all the cells and columns have cards in them, you can only move one card at a time. Multiple cards can only be moved at once as part of a sequence, and the number of cards moved at one time is dependent upon how many columns and cells are empty at the time. In this sequence, the Six of Hearts is the bottom card which could be moved. For example, you may develop a sequence reading from the top of the column down to the bottom open card as follows: King of Spades - Queen of Hearts - Jack of Clubs - Ten of Hearts – Nine of Clubs – Eight of Diamonds – Seven of Spades – Six of Hearts. You must place a card on top of the next highest card numerically, but in the opposite color. Black cards are Spades and Clubs red cards are Hearts and Diamonds. There is no limit to the number of cards in each column.Īlternating colors refers to alternating black and red cards. Only one card can be placed in each cell. As stated above, you can move cards into the foundation piles, into a cell, or by creating sequences of alternating colors in descending numerical order on the tableau. Once the game is dealt, you may begin moving cards. The game is won when all cards are in the foundation piles. If the move involves moving a sequence to an empty column, the column is not considered empty in the calculation of how many cards can be moved. If a column is empty, this number doubles. Sequences of alternating colors can be moved between columns with the number of cards in a sequence to be moved being limited to the number of empty cells at the top plus one. For example, the Three of Hearts could be placed on the Four of Spades or the Four of Clubs. Third, cards can be placed on top of the next sequentially highest card of the opposite color. Second, a card can be placed in a cell in the top left. First, they can be moved into the foundation piles in sequential order, beginning with the Aces. After the Aces, the piles will be built in the standard ascending card sequence.ĭuring play, cards can be moved in three ways. The goal is to move all the cards into the foundation piles, beginning with the Aces. These columns can also be called “cascades” due to the way they are dealt, with the first card of each column being below the other cards, but near the top of the tableau, making the cards “cascade” downward. The open card in the column (the bottom card when looking at the tableau, but the top card with how the cards are stacked) is the card that can be played or built upon in each column. The cards are dealt into four columns of seven followed by four columns of six cards, making a total of eight columns including all fifty-two cards. Only one card can be placed in each cell at a time. The four spaces on the left are the open cells, into which cards can be temporarily placed in order to move them off of the tableau. The four spaces on the right will be the foundation piles, each waiting for an Ace to begin the pile. The layout consists of two sets of four empty spaces at the top of the tableau. The Rules of Freecellįreecell uses a standard fifty-two card deck. The more of these cells that are empty, or “free”, the larger number of cards that can be moved at once on the tableau. The game is named for the cells at the top of the tableau into which cards can be temporarily moved one at a time. Due to it’s adoption by Windows as one of its standard games, it has become one of the most popular versions of the solitaire card game. Like classic Solitaire, many Windows users will be familiar with the game of Freecell. Information pertaining to a selection of simulation / modelling systems (Swarm, MASON, Repast, StarLogo, NetLogo, OBEUS, AgentSheets and AnyLogic) is provided, categorised by their licensing policy (open source, shareware / freeware and proprietary systems). Types of simulation / modelling systems available for ABM are defined, supplemented with criteria to consider before choosing a particular system for a modelling endeavour. The potential use of agent-based models is discussed, and how-to instructions for developing an agent-based model are provided. A definition of agents and agent-based models is given identifying their advantages and disadvantages, especially in relation to geospatial modelling. Cellular Automata, CA, and ABM) have been particularly popular, with ABM moving to the fore. The paper begins with a brief definition of modelling, followed by a classification of model types, and a comment regarding a shift (in certain circumstances) towards modelling systems at the individual-level. The aim of this paper is to outline fundamental concepts and principles of the Agent-Based Modelling (ABM) paradigm, with particular reference to the development of geospatial simulations. We have just finished writing a working paper entitled “ Principles and Concepts of Agent-Based Modelling for Developing Geospatial Simulations” Keywords: Pedestrian evacuation modelling, Agent-Based Modelling, Repast toolkit, London’s King’s Cross St. This paper concludes with progress of the prototype model to date. This is followed by an agenda for developing an agent-based pedestrian evacuation model using the Repast toolkit. The feasibility of using a proprietary pedestrian evacuation model to achieve the research goal is discussed. In light of these, principles of pedestrian evacuation modelling are presented, highlighting a shift in approaches: from aggregate movement, to individual-level movement and behavioural models. To begin, the aims and deliverables are identified. The specific aim of this paper is to provide the reader with an overview of this research project. The local emergency services have several duties placed upon themselves in the event of a major incident at this site, and a computer based model capable of examining the effects of different incident assumptions or contingencies has been identified as potentially beneficial to the local National Health Service resilience planning department. Despite these modifications and improvements, both the surrounding built environment and the station will necessarily remain complex structures. Pancras underground station is currently being redeveloped, partly to mitigate the remaining few operational and safety issues identified after the 1987 fire, and also to allow for a predicted increase in passenger use. The adoption of preparedness measures is crucial for the emergency services to limit the loss of life and property, and to improve the response phase of an incident. The implementation of measures to mitigate or neutralise the effect of all possible future incidents at this site is unrealistic. A fire in November 1987 and the terrorist bombing in July 2005 both resulted in the loss of lives, and the injury of many people. Pancras underground station has been the unfortunate location of two major incidents within the last twenty years. The range of MoCA 2.0 compatible equipment speeds actually realized are 520 Mb/s to 900 Mb/s, although the stated speed is 1 Gbp/s. Stated maximum speeds are often not realized. The more devices that are attached, the less speed you get. MoCA is a shared resource, similar to how your Internet connection functions. The second and additional units are connected to remote coaxial outlets. The first bridge device in any MoCA network is for the cable modem. A two-pack of MoCA adapters from a reputable MoCA Certified manufacturer will run you about $155. Potentially expensive to get up and running.MoCA is restricted to traditional cable TV providers. You can get around the restriction by using Ethernet switches hooked directly to a MoCA bridge. This means you may have a maximum of 16 MoCA adapters hooked up to your coaxial cable. Less interference prone than WiFi or powerline networking.Negates the need for performance reducing and potentially unreliable WiFi extenders.Allows higher quality (lower latency) and faster signaling for data networking to remote locations in your home when there are no other alternatives.Does not require running any additional cable, you can use your existing coaxial cable. It is highly scalable due to how it is deployed.Ī typical Ethernet adapter (desktop computer internal device): Ethernet provides robust and fast data signaling. The idea behind switching is each device can take full advantage of the bandwidth on the cable, whether it be 1 Gigabit, 10 Gigabit, or higher. Similar to MoCA in that it is also a wired technology, Ethernet allows for switched data networking between the device and switch/router. Images courtesy of the Actiontec website. Browse our website for more information about MoCA networking for smart devices. These devices convert coaxial signaling to Ethernet signaling that a TV or laptop can use. MoCA functions with devices that are known as bridges. MoCA is currently limited to approximately 1 Gigabit network speeds, but 2.5 Gigabit MoCA is being developed. Ethernet provides the same bandwidth across each individual wired run and one run does not share bandwidth with another, due to an Ethernet switch segregating the traffic. This contrasts starkly with Ethernet, which is a switched technology. MoCA is wired technology, but it should be noted that the bandwidth across all MoCA adapters is shared. This data is what a laptop computer or WiFi access point might need. The idea is to use your existing TV cable (aka coaxial cable) to also transmit data. So, how does MoCA work? MoCA stands for multimedia over coax. In this article, we will analyze the difference between MoCA and Ethernet.Įthernet vs WiFi, Is Wiring your Network Worth It? What is MoCA Network? You might just be the perfect candidate for MoCA. Fortunately, your structure is already plumbed with coaxial cable (RG59 or RG6). Your electrical was installed in 1962, effectively ruling out powerline networking. Due to the construction of your walls, WiFi barely gets past a single concrete wall much less two. Your walls are concrete and there is no practical way of running Ethernet cable without a concrete bit and hammer drill. Imagine this: You need a wired Internet connection to your smart TV. But I could not tolerate stopping my creative flow for 20 seconds every 3 minutes. Final Draft will auto-save every 3 minutes (fastest setting) so you can’t lose more than 3 minutes of work. Auto-save is vital if you want to protect your work from sudden crashes. Final Draft took as long as 20 seconds to auto-save.I have been using Fade In for a few months and it has not crashed once. You have no idea how frustrating it is to work hard on a scene only to have the program suddenly vanish from my screen along with the scene I just wrote. Final Draft would often crash, sometimes as much as once a day.Several of the issues I had with Final Draft that caused me to look elsewhere were intolerable. But the folks at Fade In have informed me that this will be in a future upgrade. Final Draft is a bit more robust than Fade In, but the only thing I have found missing in Fade In is split screen view where you can look at two spots in the same script. Both Final Draft and Fade In have all of these and much more. Beyond that, I don’t need most of the bells and whistles, and chances are you won’t either. I find the navigation panel helpful in keeping track of scenes and moving about in scripts. I occasionally need revision marks when writing series episodes, and sometimes need to embed an image when describing something that might get lost in translation when being animated overseas. You can check all of Fade In’s features here.Įven though I am a professional screenwriter of features and TV, in most cases I only need basic formatting. Fade In does all of these just as well as Final Draft. They export to PDF and import and export other script writing software formats. They have scene navigators to show you where you are in the script and easily move scenes around or delete them. They have revision functions for colored pages, A-pages, and asterisks for script changes. If you are seriously looking for professional screenwriting software you already know that this type of software automatically formats screenplays with scene headings, action, character names, parentheticals, dialogue and transitions. I’m not going to go over Fade In’s specific screenwriting functions in detail. New writers may only need basic screenplay formatting. Show runners may want complex production features. Individual screenwriters have different needs. But I ran into a few issues recently that caused me to check into other screenwriting software. It’s not perfect, but I don’t know any software that is (except maybe Photoshop). It’s good software and I gave it a good review.
